Rian Kiniry drove in the winning run to give the Somerset Patriots (47-51) the lead in the seventh inning, as the Somerset Patriots hung on to beat the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (45-51) 4-3 on Friday.

With the score tied at two in the seventh inning, Kiniry came to the plate and hit into a fielder's choice.

The Somerset Patriots held off the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, as the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs were unable to overcome a two-run seventh inning deficit.

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs scored one run in the ninth on a solo home run by Jesse Gutierrez. Still, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs couldn't draw even.

Johnny Drennen racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Somerset Patriots. He singled in the fifth inning and homered in the seventh inning.

The Somerset Patriots got the win thanks in large part to Roy Merritt's dominant, six-strikeout performance. Merritt allowed two earned runs on four hits and three walks over seven innings.

Charlie Manning was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
