The Sugar Land Skeeters (31-43) trailed by five in the fifth, but the Sugar Land Skeeters recovered thanks to a key two-run blast in the seventh inning from Manuel Mejia to pull out an 8-7 win over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (32-42) at Constellation Field, Sugar Land on Monday.

With the Sugar Land Skeeters trailing by one in the seventh inning, Mejia came to the plate and homered, scoring Josh Pressley.

Mejia racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Sugar Land Skeeters. He singled in the sixth inning and homered in the seventh inning.

Casey Benjamin racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. He singled in the fifth inning.

Roberto Giron improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Sugar Land Skeeters. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered no hits.

Ricky Barrett (0-1) took the loss for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
