The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (32-41) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Sugar Land Skeeters (30-43), recording a 7-1 victory on Sunday at Constellation Field, Sugar Land.

The game was decided quickly as the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs exerted their will early with six runs in the first three innings.

An RBI single by Casey Benjamin and a two-run single by Christian Lopez in the first inning and an RBI double by Kevin Rios, an RBI triple by Brian Barton, and a groundout by Travis Garcia during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.

Garcia racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs relied on Nick Green to eat up innings en route to the win. Green allowed one earned run, six hits and one walk while striking out three over nine innings of work.

Scott Kazmir (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in one inning, walked two and struck out two.
