Both the Sherrill (4-4) and the GEN Red Wings (3-1) put runners aboard on Wednesday, but it was the Sherrill that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 4-3 win at Noyes Park.
The Sherrill would not relinquish the lead as the GEN Red Wings were unable to weather a three-run sixth inning deficit.
The GEN Red Wings scored on a groundout by Brad Blumer and a solo home run by Matt Mayo in the seventh inning and a solo home run by Jon Leroux in the eighth inning. Still, the GEN Red Wings couldn't catch the Sherrill.
Mike Meleski picked up the win for the Sherrill. Meleski allowed one earned run, seven hits and two walks while striking out four over 6 2/3 innings of work.
Joe Bocchino ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked five, struck out six, and allowed three runs.
