The Adirondack survive the SYR Salt Cats 6-5 thanks to Hix's late-game heroics

Kevin Hix drove in the winning run to give the Adirondack (22-15) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Adirondack hung on to beat the SYR Salt Cats (15-22) 6-5 on Wednesday.

With the score tied at five in the eighth inning, Hix came to the plate and homered.

Hix paced the Adirondack at the plate. Hix went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the sixth inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Eric Baker hit two home runs for the Adirondack. Baker went 2-5 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Baker homered in the fifth and seventh innings.

Andrew Mederios was hot from the plate for the SYR Salt Cats. Mederios went 2-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the first inning and homered in the fifth inning.

Matthew Robinson improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Adirondack. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Sean Gavin was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed one run.
