Offenses dominate as the Utica outscore the SYR Salt Cats 9-8

Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Monday as the Utica (4-3) outscored the SYR Salt Cats (1-6) 9-8.

The two teams combined for 22 hits in the game.

The Utica would not relinquish the lead as the SYR Salt Cats were unable to weather a six-run seventh inning deficit.

The SYR Salt Cats scored on an RBI single by Kevin Bailey in the seventh inning and a two-run home run by Dan Fiorito and a three-run home run by Nick Carlson in the ninth inning. Despite their efforts, the SYR Salt Cats couldn't finish the comeback.

Zachary Loraine had two extra-base hits for the Utica. He doubled in the first and fourth innings and singled in the seventh inning.

Tim Murdick recorded his first win of the year for the Utica. He allowed two runs over six innings. Murdick struck out six, walked one and gave up six hits.

Mike Lalonde was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed four runs.

The Utica were sparked by Loraine and Eros Modena, who teamed up for six hits and four RBIs.
