Sherrill vs SYR JR Chiefs: 8-3

The SYR JR Chiefs outdone by Mazzara and the Sherrill, 8-3

Mike Mazzara went 2-4 and hit a home run, sparking the Sherrill (16-22) to an 8-3 victory over the SYR JR Chiefs (26-12) on Wednesday at Alliance Bank Stadium.

He singled in the second inning and homered in the sixth inning.

Mike Meleski picked up the win for the Sherrill. Meleski allowed two earned runs, five hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings of work.

The SYR JR Chiefs were led by a flawless day at the dish by Alexander Sanchez Jr., who went 2-2 against the Sherrill's pitching. He singled in the fifth and seventh innings.

Jed Lehman pitched lights out for the SYR JR Chiefs. The Sherrill managed just one hit off of Lehman, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his 2 1/3 innings of work.

Nicholas May was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in 6 2/3 innings, walked five and struck out three.
