An outstanding effort by Ryan Sonberg carried the SYR JR Chiefs (15-3) to a 22-5 win over the Sherrill (8-15) on Monday at Noyes Park.
Sonberg racked up seven RBIs on three hits for the SYR JR Chiefs. He homered in the second and third innings and singled in the fifth and ninth innings.
The SYR JR Chiefs continued to pile on the runs until the end of the game. The SYR JR Chiefs scored three runs in the last three innings to finish off the blowout win. The SYR JR Chiefs scored eight runs in the sixth on , , , , and a home run by Zach Lauricella.
Mike Weakley had two extra-base hits for the Sherrill. He homered in the first inning, singled in the fifth inning, and doubled in the ninth inning.
Alex Basso improved to 4-0 on the year by picking up the win for the SYR JR Chiefs. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out five, walked none and surrendered six hits.
Jordan Doroshenko (1-3) took the loss for the Sherrill. He allowed seven runs in three innings, walked two and struck out one.
The SYR JR Chiefs pounded the Sherrill pitching, as six hitters combined for 12 hits, 17 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
