A walk-off from Christian Knott brought home the winning run for the SYR JR Chiefs (12-2) in a 5-4 victory over the Utica in 10 innings at Alliance Bank Stadium on Wednesday.
Riley Moonan racked up three RBIs on three hits for the SYR JR Chiefs. He singled in the second inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and homered in the eighth inning.
The Utica (10-9) couldn't get anything going as long as Dean Bonneau was on the mound. The Utica managed just one hit off of Bonneau, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his 3 1/3 innings of work.
Kevin Carroll improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the SYR JR Chiefs. Carroll struck out one, walked none and gave up no hits.
Marcus Crescentini was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed one run.
