Kyle Danford knocked in five runs, helping the Hornell (12-5) to an 8-3 victory over the Wellsville (8-12) on Monday at Maple City Park.
He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the sixth and eighth innings.The Wellsville's lineup had no answer for Aaron Benton. The Wellsville managed just one hit off of Benton, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his 2 1/3 innings of work.
Nicholas Boyd improved to 3-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Hornell. He allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out three, walked three and surrendered five hits.
Anthony Galan (1-4) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
