A great effort by Steven Dooley carried the Hornell (11-5) to a 2-1 win in 10 innings over the Wellsville on Saturday at Wellsville Central.
Dooley looked sharp on the mound. Dooley gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out six during his 7 2/3 innings of work.
TJ Hunt allowed one earned run, three hits and no walks while striking out seven over nine innings of work.
Heath Burton pushed the Hornell ahead, in the tenth inning, and the lead lasted until the final out. With the score tied at one in the tenth inning, Burton came to the plate and grounded out, bringing home Will Benenson.
Kevin Johnson got the win, running his season record to 2-1. Johnson struck out two, walked one and gave up three hits.
Matt Fischman was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed one run.
