The Hornell offense too much for the Niagara in 9-3 rout

The Hornell (5-2) jumped out to an early lead on the Niagara (2-3) and captured a 9-3 victory on Monday at Maple City Park.

Five runs in the first three innings allowed the Hornell to put the game away early.

A sacrifice fly by Matt Calhoun during the first inning and a two-run double by Heath Burton and a two-run double by Burton in the second inning fueled the Hornell's offense early.

Calhoun racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Hornell.

Nicholas Boyd improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Hornell. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out five, walked none and surrendered six hits.

Rick Hubbard couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Niagara, taking a loss. He allowed nine runs in four innings, walked five and struck out three.
