Aaron Mathews brought home the go-ahead run to give the Somerset Patriots (20-23) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Somerset Patriots hung on to beat the Sugar Land Skeeters (17-25) 2-1 on Saturday.
Freddie Bynum singled to start the eighth. He then went from first to second on a passed ball. Finally, Mathews came to the plate with the score tied at one in the eighth inning, and reached on an error, scoring Bynum.Mike MacDonald racked up six strikeouts in the the Somerset Patriots win. MacDonald allowed one earned run on four hits and no walks over seven innings.
Eric Krebs (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed one run.
