An excellent effort by Terry Tiffee led the Lancaster Barnstormers (17-15) to a 6-5 win over the Somerset Patriots (15-16) on Wednesday at Clipper Magazine.
Tiffee blasted three home runs for the Lancaster Barnstormers. Tiffee went 3-3 in the game with four RBIs and three runs scored. Tiffee homered in the first, third, and fifth innings.
The Lancaster Barnstormers held off the Somerset Patriots, as the Somerset Patriots were unable to overcome a four-run third inning deficit.
The Somerset Patriots scored on a two-run single by Jeff Nettles in the fourth inning, an RBI double by Daniel DeGeorge in the fifth inning, a sacrifice fly by Nettles in the sixth inning, and a solo home run by Jesse Hoorelbeke in the ninth inning. Despite their efforts, the Somerset Patriots couldn't finish the comeback.
Hoorelbeke was solid at the plate for the Somerset Patriots. Hoorelbeke went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run.
Rich Rundles recorded his second win of the year for the Lancaster Barnstormers. He allowed four runs over six innings. Rundles struck out two, walked one and gave up eight hits.
Mike MacDonald was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked two and struck out five.
