The Swift Current Indians (28-17) jumped out to an early lead on the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets (19-26) and captured a 17-4 victory on Saturday at Mitchell Field.
The game was decided quickly as the Swift Current Indians exerted their will early with nine runs in the first three innings.
An RBI single by Aaron Dunsmore, a two-run error, a fielder's choice, and a two-run single by Tanner Morache during the first inning and a solo home run by Brennan Peterson, an RBI single by Alex Mortensen, and an error in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Swift Current Indians.Peterson put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Swift Current Indians.
The Saskatoon Yellow Jackets were led by Cory Osborne's hitting. Osborne went 3-4 and scored one run. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the second and eighth innings.
Eric Huson got the win, running his season record to 5-1. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out three, walked two and surrendered seven hits.
Mark Kosteniuk was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed nine runs in one inning, walked two and struck out none.
The Swift Current Indians pounded the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets pitching, as six hitters combined for 16 hits, 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
