An outstanding effort by Derek Wallace lifted the Weyburn Beavers (17-18) to a 7-4 win over the Okotoks Dawgs (22-15) on Friday at Tom Laing Park.
Wallace hit two home runs for the Weyburn Beavers. Wallace went 2-3 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Wallace homered in the third and fourth innings.
The Weyburn Beavers relied on Kris Keating to eat up innings en route to the win. Keating allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks while striking out one over 6 2/3 innings of work.
It was a good day at the plate for the Okotoks Dawgs' Rylan Chin. Chin went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the eighth inning.
Will Scott (1-1) took the loss for the Okotoks Dawgs. He allowed six runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out two.
