Things looked bleak for the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets (15-22) when they trailed by three runs in the eighth inning, but the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets recovered thanks to a key two-run home run in the eighth inning from Tim Colwell to pull out a 6-5 win over the Yorkton Cardinals (12-27) at Cairns Field, Saskatoon, SK.

With the score tied at four in the eighth inning, Colwell came to the plate and homered, plating Mark Kosteniuk.

Colwell put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets. He doubled in the first inning, singled in the seventh inning, and homered in the eighth inning.

The Saskatoon Yellow Jackets staved off the Yorkton Cardinals as the Yorkton Cardinals were unable to match the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets down the stretch.

The Yorkton Cardinals scored one run in the ninth on an RBI single by Liam Goodall. Still, the Yorkton Cardinals couldn't catch the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets.

Steven Latos got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Latos struck out one, walked none and gave up two hits.

Michael McCue (0-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed five runs.

The Saskatoon Yellow Jackets were sparked by Colwell and Cory Osborne, who teamed up for six hits and three RBIs.
