The Okotoks Dawgs get key pinch-hit in 11-4 victory over the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets

Story by Narrative Science.

James Stewart was cold coming off the bench, but Stewart warmed up quickly as Stewart stroked a key pinch-hit single in the two to lead the Okotoks Dawgs (17-7) to an 11-4 win over the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets (8-15) on Wednesday at Seaman Stadium.

With the Okotoks Dawgs trailing by one, Stewart came to the plate and singled, bringing home Andrew Nist.

Six runs in the opening three innings allowed the Okotoks Dawgs to easily put away the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets. A two-run double by Rylan Chin and a single during the second inning fueled the Okotoks Dawgs' offense early.

Nist racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Okotoks Dawgs. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the second and sixth innings.

The Saskatoon Yellow Jackets couldn't get anything going so long as Hunter Herdt was on the hill. Herdt held the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Connor Russell recorded his third win of the year for the Okotoks Dawgs. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out five, walked one and surrendered seven hits.

Andrew Malone (0-4) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked one and struck out two.
