A magnificent effort by Jesse Sawyer led the Lethbridge Bulls (7-8) to a 7-4 win over the Yorkton Cardinals (5-9) on Wednesday at Spitz Stadium.
Sawyer hit two home runs for the Lethbridge Bulls. Sawyer went 3-5 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Sawyer homered in the third, third, and fifth innings.
The Lethbridge Bulls relied on Alex Regan to eat up innings en route to the win. Regan allowed three earned runs, seven hits and two walks while striking out six over eight innings of work.
It was a good day at the plate for the Yorkton Cardinals' Francis Rodriguez. Rodriguez went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fifth, seventh, and eighth innings.
Corey Thompson was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in three innings, walked one and struck out three.
