Early boost from Clark helps the Melville Millionaires get past the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets, 8-7

The Melville Millionaires (8-7) jumped on the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets (6-5) early on their way to an 8-7 win on Tuesday at Cairns Field in seven innings, scoring five runs in the first inning.

The Melville Millionaires would not relinquish the lead as the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets were unable to weather a eight-run fourth inning deficit.

The Saskatoon Yellow Jackets scored on an RBI single by Hans Ask, , , a two-run single by John Skrbec, and an RBI single by Tim Colwell in the fifth inning and an RBI single by Cory Osborne in the seventh inning. Despite their efforts, the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets couldn't get over the hump.

John Clark racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Melville Millionaires. He tripled in the first inning, doubled in the second inning, and singled in the fourth inning.

Colwell had a hot bat for the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets. Colwell went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run.

Parker Thomas recorded his second win for the Melville Millionaires even though he allowed six runs over 4 2/3 innings. Thomas struck out four, walked four and gave up seven hits.

Ty Webster ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in three innings, walked four and struck out three.
