Gabe Cook brought home the winning run to give the Yorkton Cardinals (3-5) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Yorkton Cardinals hung on to beat the Moose Jaw Miller Express (2-6) 3-2 on Tuesday.
After Mike Perry doubled, Cook came to the plate with the score tied at two, and singled, scoring Perry.Perry was hot from the plate for the Yorkton Cardinals. Perry went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the sixth inning and doubled in the eighth inning.
Dylan Tye handled the Moose Jaw Miller Express' lineup with ease, racking up seven strikeouts. Tye allowed two earned runs, six hits and no walks over 7 2/3 innings.
Despite the loss, the Moose Jaw Miller Express' Terry McNabb dominated the Yorkton Cardinals' batters, giving up three runs and striking out five.
Corey Thompson improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Yorkton Cardinals. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.
McNabb (0-1) took the loss for the Moose Jaw Miller Express.
