The Medicine Hat Mavericks (9-5) beat the Okotoks Dawgs (8-5) 6-1 on Tuesday at Athletic Park behind Joel Lutz, who went 2-3.

Jason Rubenstein shut down the Okotoks Dawgs while he was on the mound. The Okotoks Dawgs managed just two hits off of Rubenstein, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two during his four innings of work.

The Okotoks Dawgs' John Apostolo was perfect at the dish, going 2-2. He singled in the fourth and eighth innings.

Colton Rudd got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed one run over five innings. Rudd struck out two, walked two and gave up five hits.

Trent Wilson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
