The Regina Red Sox defeat the Melville Millionaires after late game single, 5-4

The Regina Red Sox (28-8) outlasted the Melville Millionaires (20-18) on Friday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 5-4 win at Pirie Field.

The Regina Red Sox would not relinquish the lead as the Melville Millionaires were unable to weather a three-run fifth inning deficit.

The Melville Millionaires scored two runs in the sixth on a two-run single by Cam Firth. Despite their efforts, the Melville Millionaires couldn't finish the comeback.

Mitch MacDonald was solid at the plate for the Regina Red Sox. MacDonald went 2-5, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the ninth inning.

The Melville Millionaires couldn't get anything going as long as Nick Huff was pitching. Huff gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his two innings of work.

Jesus Del Rosario recorded his second win of the year for the Regina Red Sox. Del Rosario struck out three, walked none and gave up one hit.

Michael Medina was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
