The Sanford Mainers (14-22) continued to pile up the runs on Saturday, scoring six runs in the last three innings, en route to an easy 17-5 win over the Vermont Mountaineers (17-20) at Goodall Park.

The Sanford Mainers scored five runs in the eighth on a single by Jordan Betts, , a sacrifice fly by Nate LaPointe, an RBI single by Cam Young, a single by Ino Patron, a sacrifice fly by Jordan Hagel, and an RBI double by Anthony Hajjar.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.

The Sanford Mainers finally managed to grab the lead after a strong second inning. An error scored LaPointe and gave the Sanford Mainers the lead for good.

Gavin Stark went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Sanford Mainers.

Aaron Barbosa was hot from the plate for the Vermont Mountaineers. Barbosa went 3-5 and scored three runs. He singled in the fifth, seventh, and ninth innings.

Steven Rice recorded his second win of the year for the Sanford Mainers. He allowed three runs over six innings. Rice struck out four, walked one and gave up nine hits.

Andrew LaBlanc couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Vermont Mountaineers, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out one.

The Sanford Mainers easily handled the Vermont Mountaineers pitching as six hitters combined for 15 hits, 12 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
