The Newport Gulls (15-4) pounded the Mystic Schooners (2-18) on Wednesday 8-2 at Fitch High School.
The Newport Gulls scored four runs in the second on a fielder's choice, a sacrifice fly by Robby Ort, and a two-run single by Kasey Coffman.
Coffman racked up four RBIs on five hits for the Newport Gulls.
Brett Graves had an impressive outing against the Mystic Schooners' lineup. Graves held the Mystic Schooners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Andrew Santomauro was hot from the plate for the Mystic Schooners. Santomauro went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning.
Adam Ravenelle recorded his first win of the year for the Newport Gulls. He allowed two runs over six innings. Ravenelle struck out seven, walked two and gave up six hits.
Alex Gouin (0-4) took the loss for the Mystic Schooners. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
