The Vermont Mountaineers cruise past the Holyoke Blue Sox, 8-0

The Holyoke Blue Sox (8-12) didn't stand a chance on Tuesday, as the Vermont Mountaineers (10-9) captured a blowout 8-0 win at MacKenzie Stadium.

The Vermont Mountaineers scored four runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Ryan Karl, an RBI single by Cole Peragine, a steal of home by Karl, and a groundout by Chris Cook.

The Vermont Mountaineers were led by Karl's hitting. Karl went 3-4 and scored two runs.

The Holyoke Blue Sox couldn't get anything going as long as Alex Haines was on the mound. The Holyoke Blue Sox managed just two hits off of the the Vermont Mountaineers' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out six during his five innings of work.

David Speer was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
