An exceptional effort by Yale Rosen hoisted the Newport Gulls (8-3) to a 12-7 win over the Laconia Muskrats (6-8) on Tuesday at Robbie Mills Park.
Rosen hit two home runs for the Newport Gulls. Rosen went 3-5 in the game with five RBIs and three runs scored. Rosen homered in the fourth and fifth innings.
Pete Kelich brought the heat against the Laconia Muskrats during his outing. The Laconia Muskrats managed just two hits off of the the Newport Gulls' pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out six during his three innings of work.
Ethan Bennett racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Laconia Muskrats. He homered in the first inning and singled in the fourth inning.
Tyler Wilson shut down the Newport Gulls while he was on the mound. Wilson held the Newport Gulls hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked four and struck out four.
Daniel Wright got his third win for the Newport Gulls despite allowing six runs over six innings. He struck out eight, walked three and surrendered seven hits.
Mathew Aldrich was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed 10 runs in four innings, walked three and struck out seven.
