The Slippery Rock Sliders get key pinch-hit in 10-8 victory over the Chillicothe Paints

Dan Hurlimann was cold coming off the bench, but Hurlimann warmed up quickly as Hurlimann stroked a key pinch-hit single in the eight to lead the Slippery Rock Sliders (16-31) to a 10-8 win over the Chillicothe Paints (28-19) on Sunday at Jack Critchfield Park.

With the Slippery Rock Sliders trailing by two, Hurlimann came to the plate and singled.

The two teams combined for 18 runs and 23 hits, including zero extra base hits. Both bullpens were busy with six pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the eighth, with five lead changes.

The Slippery Rock Sliders pulled out the win thanks to a strong eighth inning. A fielder's choice scored Radley Haddad and Ryan Abernathy and gave the Slippery Rock Sliders the lead for good.

Haddad racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Slippery Rock Sliders. He homered in the second inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Brent Roerhich improved to 2-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Slippery Rock Sliders. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered no hits.

Joe Zwierzynski (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
