The West Virginia Miners take out the Slippery Rock Sliders with help from Strong, 9-4

The West Virginia Miners (23-11) beat the Slippery Rock Sliders (11-23) 9-4 on Friday at Jack Critchfield Park behind Bradley Strong, who had three RBIs.

He singled in the second innings and doubled in the fourth innings.

The West Virginia Miners got the win thanks in large part to Sam Lewis's dominant, seven-strikeout performance. Lewis allowed one earned run, three hits and one walk over seven innings.

Drew Bryan was hot from the plate for the Slippery Rock Sliders. Bryan went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the ninth inning.

Michael Chiaro ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
