A walk-off solo blast from Jake Welch brought home the winning run for the Richmond RiverRats (14-12) in a 7-6 victory over the Butler Blue Sox (15-11) at McBride Stadium on Tuesday.
Welch did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Richmond RiverRats, reaching base four times. He scored three runs and had one RBI. He singled in the first inning and homered in the ninth inning.
Dylan Sheldon improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Richmond RiverRats. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered no hits.
Adam Dian was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
