The Richmond RiverRats offense too much for the Lorain County Ironmen in 8-2 rout

Story by Narrative Science.

The Richmond RiverRats (14-12) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Lorain County Ironmen (7-18), recording an 8-2 victory on Thursday at McBride Stadium.

With seven runs in the first three innings, the Richmond RiverRats left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A three-run home run by Derek Trovillion, a single by Michael Meredith, a hit by pitch, a sacrifice fly by Jake Welch, and a three-run home run by Justin Pearson in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Richmond RiverRats.

Pearson racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Richmond RiverRats.

Kyle Tibbs picked up the win for the Richmond RiverRats. Tibbs allowed two earned runs, nine hits and one walk while striking out five over eight innings of work.

Ryan Wonders was hot from the plate for the Lorain County Ironmen. Wonders went 3-4 and scored one run. He singled in the second, fifth, and sixth innings.

Tony Naso ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked five and struck out two.
