Early lead gives the Quincy Gems easy victory over the Dubois County Bombers, 19-1

The Quincy Gems (32-24) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Dubois County Bombers (33-23), recording a 19-1 victory on Thursday at Quincy Stadium.

Six runs in the first three innings allowed the Quincy Gems to put the game away early.

An RBI double by Matt Munoz, a sacrifice fly by Drew Carlile, a double by Nick Moore, a double by Nick Day, , and a double by Gregory Allen in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Quincy Gems.

Day racked up seven RBIs on four hits for the Quincy Gems.

Cody Woodhouse picked up the win for the Quincy Gems. Woodhouse allowed one earned run, eight hits and three walks while striking out six over eight innings of work.

Ty Simpson (5-4) took the loss for the Dubois County Bombers. He allowed 12 runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out one.

The Quincy Gems easily handled the Dubois County Bombers pitching as seven hitters combined for 16 hits, 17 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
