David Kuhne drove in the winning run to give the Quincy Gems (31-22) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Quincy Gems hung on to beat the Terre Haute Rex (33-20) 11-6 on Sunday.
Zach George singled to start the sixth. He then went from first to third on a double by Nick Tindall. Finally, Kuhne came to the plate with the score tied at one in the sixth inning, and singled, scoring George and Tindall.Kuhne racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Quincy Gems. He singled in the fifth and sixth innings and doubled in the seventh inning.
Gregory Allen racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Quincy Gems. He homered in the seventh inning and singled in the third and eighth innings.
Andrew Hanse struck out eight, paving the way for a the Quincy Gems win. Hanse allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks over six innings.
The Terre Haute Rex were led by Brett Teschner's hitting. Teschner went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the fourth innings and singled in the second and ninth innings.
William Robinson couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Terre Haute Rex, taking a loss. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
