The Hannibal Cavemen (12-9) and the Quincy Gems (12-9) both had scoring chances on Thursday, but it was the Hannibal Cavemen that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 5-4 win at QU Stadium.
The Hannibal Cavemen would not relinquish the lead as the Quincy Gems were unable to weather a four-run sixth inning deficit.
The Quincy Gems scored on an RBI single by David Kuhne and a groundout by Gregory Allen in the seventh inning and an RBI single by Kuhne in the ninth inning. Unfortunately, the Quincy Gems weren't able to take the lead back.
Ryan Light had a hot bat for the Hannibal Cavemen. Light went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the fifth inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
Dylan Terrell got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over six innings. Terrell struck out five, walked one and gave up seven hits.
Cody Woodhouse ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
