Kris Goodman brought home the winning run to give the Hannibal Cavemen (26-24) the lead in the seventh inning, as the Hannibal Cavemen hung on to beat the Springfield Sliders (21-29) 8-4 on Thursday.
Neal Hansen singled to start the seventh. He then went from first to second on an RBI single by Jake Mangler. Finally, Goodman came to the plate with the score tied at three, and doubled, scoring Hansen.Goodman racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Hannibal Cavemen. He doubled in the seventh and eighth innings.
Mike Fitzgerald Jr. racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Springfield Sliders. He homered in the first inning.
Dustin Carlson got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Carlson struck out two, walked none and gave up three hits.
Nick Capra (0-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked two and struck out one.
