A superb effort by Tom Helwich lifted the Danville Dans (11-26) to a 5-0 win over the Hannibal Cavemen (19-18) on Monday at Clemens Field.
The Danville Dans' Helwich kept the Hannibal Cavemen off the scoreboard for all nine innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on six hits while striking out five.
Adam Casson racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Danville Dans. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the fourth and eighth innings.
Tyler Stuerman (0-5) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed one run.
