The Hannibal Cavemen get key pinch-hit in 14-6 victory over the Springfield Sliders

Jake Mangler was cold coming off the bench, but Mangler warmed up quickly as Mangler stroked a key pinch-hit triple in the three to lead the Hannibal Cavemen (5-5) to a 14-6 win over the Springfield Sliders (2-8) on Friday at Clemens Field.

With the game scoreless in the third inning Mangler came to the plate and tripled, scoring Spencer Anderson.

The Hannibal Cavemen blew out the Springfield Sliders thanks to 16 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Hannibal Cavemen scored five runs in the fifth on an RBI double by Zach Nichols, an RBI single by Ian Sikes, a two-run double by Tyler Filliben, and an RBI single by Daniel Peters.

Randy Villa racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Hannibal Cavemen. He singled in the fifth and sixth innings.

Christian Trent looked sharp on the mound. Trent held the Springfield Sliders hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two.

Kevin Lenkman got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed three runs over six innings. Lenkman struck out four, walked two and gave up six hits.

Cody Repenning was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed nine runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out four.

The Hannibal Cavemen hammered the Springfield Sliders pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for 14 hits, 10 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
