The Hannibal Cavemen (27-26) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 6-1 ballgame against the Dubois County Bombers (31-22) on Sunday at League Stadium.
While the Hannibal Cavemen led until the fifth inning, the Dubois County Bombers worked their way back and took the lead on a two-run single by Jeff Zahn.
It was a good day at the plate for the Dubois County Bombers' Zach Long. Long went 3-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the first, fifth, and eighth innings.
Spencer Sapp picked up the win for the Dubois County Bombers. Sapp allowed one earned run, six hits and four walks while striking out two over eight innings of work.
Taylor Kaufman was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
