The Danville Dans seize victory thanks to late double, drop the Hannibal Cavemen 5-4

The Danville Dans (16-40) and the Hannibal Cavemen (29-27) volleyed the lead seven times on Thursday, but the Danville Dans came out on top for a 5-4 win on Thursday at Danville Stadium.

Christopher Newcomb had two extra-base hits for the Danville Dans. He doubled in the third inning and homered in the ninth inning.

Trevor Fitts handled the Hannibal Cavemen's lineup with ease, racking up 11 strikeouts. Fitts allowed three earned runs on seven hits and two walks over eight innings.

Ryan Light reached base three times in the game for the Hannibal Cavemen. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the second and sixth innings.

Pat Gannon improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Danville Dans. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered one hit.

AJ Martin was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed two runs.

Evan Powell, Andrew Daniel and Newcomb helped lead the Danville Dans. They combined for six hits and five RBIs.
