Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Wednesday as the Quincy Gems (15-11) outscored the Danville Dans (7-19) 11-9.

The two teams combined for 24 hits in the game.

The Quincy Gems held off the Danville Dans, as the Danville Dans were unable to overcome a eight-run third inning deficit.

The Danville Dans scored on an RBI single by Matthew Britton and a sacrifice fly by Andrew Alvarez in the third inning, a single by Britton, a triple by Andrew Daniel, a sacrifice fly by Wes Minton, a single by Alvarez, an RBI single by Tyler Fullerton, an error, and a single by Adam Casson in the fifth inning, and a two-run single by Wes Perkins in the ninth inning. Despite their efforts, the Danville Dans couldn't finish the comeback.

David Kuhne racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Quincy Gems. He singled in the first and third innings and homered in the eighth inning.

Bronson Smith shut down the Danville Dans while he was on the mound. The Danville Dans managed just one hit off of the the Quincy Gems' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Max Homick (1-2) took the loss for the Danville Dans. He allowed nine runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out one.
