The Chillicothe Paints (8-6) jumped on the Butler Blue Sox (6-8) early on their way to an 8-3 win on Wednesday at VA Memorial Stadium, scoring five runs in the first inning.

Jared Kujawa had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first inning and tripled in the fourth inning.

The Butler Blue Sox couldn't get anything going as long as Keenan White was on the mound. The Butler Blue Sox managed just one hit off of the the Chillicothe Paints' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his three innings of work.

Elliott Caldwell put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Butler Blue Sox. He homered in the first inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the sixth and seventh innings.

Tyler Backstrom recorded his first win of the year for the Chillicothe Paints. He allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings. Backstrom struck out five, walked none and gave up eight hits.

Andrew Elliott couldn't get it done on the hill for the Butler Blue Sox, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked four and struck out four.

The Chillicothe Paints' Kujawa, Giancarlo Brugnoni, Ryan Cypret and Nick Lombardi combined for seven hits and six RBIs.
