The Butler Blue Sox (27-16) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 5-2 ballgame against the Chillicothe Paints (25-18) on Wednesday at Pullman Park.
While the Butler Blue Sox led until the fifth inning, the Chillicothe Paints worked their way back and took the lead on an error.
Aaron Hopper racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Chillicothe Paints. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the fourth inning.
Jack Peck picked up the win for the Chillicothe Paints. Peck allowed two earned runs, five hits and one walk while striking out one over seven innings of work.
Calyn Young was effective even in defeat, mowing down eight the Chillicothe Paints batters and allowing three runs.
Young was charged with his first loss of the year.
