The Lorain County Ironmen (6-8) failed to take advantage of Sam Alvis' effort at the plate on Thursday, losing 5-4 to the Butler Blue Sox (7-8) at Pullman Park.
Alvis rocked the Butler Blue Sox with two home runs. Alvis went 2-4 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Alvis homered in the second, sixth, sixth, and sixth innings.
The game was back-and-forth heading into the sixth, with five lead changes.
Elliott Caldwell did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Butler Blue Sox, reaching base three times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the sixth innings.
Adam Dian looked sharp on the mound. Dian held the Lorain County Ironmen hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.
Kyle Thomas recorded his first win of the year for the Butler Blue Sox. He allowed four runs over six innings. Thomas struck out seven, walked two and gave up five hits.
Robert Sakosky couldn't get it done on the mound for the Lorain County Ironmen, taking a loss. He lasted just three innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed one run.
