A walk-off single from Brett Austin brought home the winning run for the Harwich Mariners (26-16) in a 2-1 victory over the Brewster Whitecaps (17-25) at Whitehouse Field on Monday.

It was a good day at the plate for the Harwich Mariners' Austin. Austin went 1-4 and drove in one. He singled in the ninth inning.

David Whitehead pitched seven innings and allowed no earned runs, three hits and no walks while striking out five.

Erik Schoenrock was effective even in defeat, mowing down nine the Harwich Mariners batters and allowing zero runs.

Brandon Woodruff got the win, running his season record to 4-2. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits.

James Leckenby was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just zero innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
