The Harwich Mariners (21-12) and the Orleans Firebirds (19-15) exchanged the lead five times on Wednesday, but the Harwich Mariners ended up on top with a 7-5 win over the Orleans Firebirds.

The Harwich Mariners held off the Orleans Firebirds, as the Orleans Firebirds were unable to overcome a three-run seventh inning deficit.

The Orleans Firebirds scored on a solo home run by Angelo LaBruna in the eighth inning and an error in the ninth inning. Despite their efforts, the Orleans Firebirds couldn't get over the hump.

Matt Reida racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Harwich Mariners. He singled in the first and third innings and doubled in the seventh inning.

CK Irby improved to 2-3 on the year by picking up the win for the Harwich Mariners. He allowed two runs over 2 1/3 innings. Irby struck out six, walked none and gave up four hits.

Philip Pfeifer was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
