An impressive effort by Brandon Sinnery spurred the London Rippers (25-35) to a 2-1 win over the Washington Wild Things (30-41) on Monday at CONSOL Energy Park.
Sinnery racked up 11 strikeouts in the the London Rippers win. Sinnery allowed one earned run on six hits and one walk over 8 1/3 innings.
The Washington Wild Things had the lead early, but couldn't hold off the London Rippers. The Washington Wild Things were ahead until the fifth inning, but the London Rippers would not be denied the win, taking the lead back on an RBI single by Stephen Cardullo.
Cardullo did his best to jumpstart the offense for the London Rippers, reaching base three times. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the fifth and eighth innings.
Despite the loss, the Washington Wild Things' Chris Smith dominated the London Rippers' batters, giving up two runs and striking out eight.
Smith couldn't get it done on the hill for the Washington Wild Things, taking a loss.
