The Washington Wild Things (38-49) beat the Rockford RiverHawks (36-51) 11-5 on Thursday thanks to a five-run first inning.

AJ Nunziato racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Washington Wild Things. He singled in the first innings, homered in the fifth inning, and doubled in the sixth inning.

Chandler Barnard looked sharp on the mound. Barnard held the Rockford RiverHawks hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Shawn Smith improved to 2-4 on the year by picking up the win for the Washington Wild Things. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out five, walked two and surrendered six hits.

Drew Rucinski couldn't get it done on the mound for the Rockford RiverHawks, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in seven innings, walked three and struck out three.
