The Rockford RiverHawks (7-13) shut the door early on the Southern Illinois Miners (14-7), capturing a 16-5 victory on Sunday at RiverHawks Stadium.

Thirteen runs in the first three innings allowed the Rockford RiverHawks to put the game away early.

A two-run home run by Javier Herrera in the first inning and a two-run error, , an RBI single by Herrera, a sacrifice fly by Devin Shepherd, and a solo home run by Matt Greener during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Rockford RiverHawks.

Herrera racked up five RBIs on four hits for the Rockford RiverHawks.

The Southern Illinois Miners had no answer for Drew Rucinski, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Southern Illinois Miners managed just two hits off of Rucinski, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out six during his five innings of work.

Will Block got a hit in each of his three at bats. He singled in the fifth, seventh, and ninth innings.

Ian Campbell ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed 13 runs in three innings, walked two and struck out none.
