The Southern Illinois Miners (14-6) pounded the Rockford RiverHawks (6-13) on Saturday 12-3 at RiverHawks Stadium.
The Southern Illinois Miners scored five runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Will Block, a two-run single by Darian Sandford, and a two-run home run by Jake Kaase.
Kaase racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Southern Illinois Miners.
Javier Herrera had two extra-base hits for the Rockford RiverHawks. He homered in the third inning and doubled in the fifth inning.
Brian Fowler got the win, running his season record to 3-0. He allowed two runs over five innings. Fowler struck out six, walked three and gave up seven hits.
