An eight-run explosion in the eighth inning led the River City Rascals (16-13) to a 13-1 win over the Joliet Slammers at T. R. Hughes Ballpark on Friday.

The Joliet Slammers (14-15) jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hang on. The Joliet Slammers were up until the fourth inning, but the River City Rascals had other plans for the final outcome, taking the lead back on an RBI single by Gerardo Avila.

Jason Patton racked up three RBIs on two hits for the River City Rascals. He homered in the eighth inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Nick Kennedy picked up the win for the River City Rascals. Kennedy pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, five hits and three walks while striking out five.

Jim Schult was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked four, struck out three, and allowed five runs.

The River City Rascals hammered the Joliet Slammers pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for 13 hits, eight RBIs and 11 runs scored.
